Men's Health Month

Updated: Jul 6

In the U.S., June is recognized as men’s health month. As we celebrate Father’s Day lets all take time to encourage the men in our lives to take good care of their health.

One of the best things you can do this month is talk to your brothers, father, sons, grandfathers and share with them the importance of staying up to date with preventive screenings. Men are less likely to schedule an annual exam with a primary care physician than women. Going to your primary care doctor for an annual physical can lifesaving. During your physical your physician will gather baseline information. Many health conditions are easier to manage if caught early. This is also true of mental health challenges. Your primary care physician is a great place to start if you have any concerns about your emotional wellbeing.

Men are also less likely to speak about health issues they may be experiencing. Don’t wait until there is an emergency to seek treatment. With the COVID-19 pandemic preventive screening rates have gone down. If you have missed a screening in the past year, please call your physician to schedule an appointment today!

LifeWorks has put together a list of recommended screening based on age. Remember to check in with your primary care physician.
